Motto: "Details, details, details..."
In addition to being a loan originator, I’m also a commercial airline pilot. Being a pilot taught me invaluable skills that transferred remarkably well to the mortgage lending industry. Attention to detail, self-management, communication, and resource management are all traits that I have developed and used for years. After working with my mortgage loan officer to purchase my own homes, I became very interested in the whole process and wanted to understand more. I set out to obtain my licenses and now I’m a part of making the dream of homeownership happen for others.
Why Options Financial Residential Mortgage?
I could tell that this was exactly the type of company I was looking for. Their willingness to help one another, work as a team, and most of all do what is best for each customer was inspiring. I really wanted a company culture where the team cares about each other, and the clients they work with. The people at Options gave me that impression right away. I could tell that they have a passion for what they do, and I wanted to be a part of that kind of team.
What would you say is the most fulfilling part of what you do?
Putting a client at ease by helping them understand the entire loan process and ultimately making a dream of theirs come true.
How would you describe the role of education in the process?
Client education is paramount. I want the client to have a good understanding of the entire process. From why we need certain documentation to what kind of loan programs there are, to what options they have if their situation changes. I didn’t have a full understanding of everything the first few times I purchased a home and I felt a little helpless. I don’t want my clients to ever feel that. When it comes to their home, I want them to have confidence in their decisions and their financial future.
Why Should A Potential Client Feel Confident Selecting You as Their Loan Officer?
I am a person that can be trusted completely. As a pilot, that job comes with inherent trust from the general public. I know that as a MLO, you are dealing with extremely sensitive information and a person’s financial well-being. I take that very seriously and will be a fiduciary for all of my clients. I pay attention to details and make sure that my work is done accurately and completely. I listen well (an under-rated skill), and really want to know the story behind each client so that I can do my best work for their family. In addition to my own skills, I have a team of highly experienced professionals who I can work with to make sure that the client is always taken care of.
When you’re not working, what are some of your favorite pastimes?
I enjoy spending time at home with my family and friends, camping, kayaking, trying out new restaurants, and making improvements to my own property.
