I got started with mortgage lending in 1995 working for a single-branch mortgage broker in Tigard, OR. After a few years, I obtained my broker’s license and opened my own company centered in Lake Oswego, OR. After seeing fantastic growth for 10+ years, I merged with a larger company and began to work on a national scale. After the real estate bubble in 2009 I spent several years with large financial institutions before devoting a couple of years expanding my horizons within the automotive and solar industries. Eventually, I was called back to my roots and have enjoyed not only assisting people once again with financing their homes but coaching and motivating others to become the best version of themselves.

I am highly motivated by my clients’ quality of experience throughout the process. I value taking extra time to listen to them before providing advice and charting a course. I not only look at the immediate goal, I take the time to find out WHY they’re seeking financing and make sure that is addressed in the process. Then I utilize my 25 years of experience and expertise in all types of financing to provide the very best options and advice.
What would you say is the most fulfilling part of what you do?
My favorite thing about my job is working with people and helping them see not only the immediate benefits of their decisions but the long-term returns as well.
How would you describe the role of education in the process?
It’s arguably the most important, but most neglected part of the mortgage process. To its own detriment, a fair part of our industry spends little to no time finding out the WHY behind a customer’s financial decisions. It is important for me to give my clients options and to properly explain each one so they can make the very best decision with confidence.
When you’re not working, what are some of your favorite pastimes?
I’m a huge Portland Trailblazers fan. If I’m not attending games, I’m watching them on TV with my family. Speaking of family, that’s where my heart lies. I have a beautiful, amazing wife and 8 wonderful children. I’m also a published author. My wife and I are also co-writing a series of teen fiction novels.
