How did you get started in the industry?

I believe going through the process as a first-time homeowner helped spark my interest in the industry; going through my own home-buying experience was very daunting to say the least, but with the help of the advisors at Options Financial, the experience was seamless. The entire process left me feeling incredibly grateful for their time, efforts, and education that helped new learners gain further knowledge and feel confident about their decisions. In addition, I was working in the finance industry at the time. I found myself wanting to be able to provide the same help I received, as well as more opportunities for others to grow, which led me to exploring the role of a home loan advisor.

What’s your background?

I worked in customer service all my life, as well as in the restaurant industry. For the past 4 years, I worked in business banking, partnering with lenders and handling client relationships. There, I was able to learn the skills of being a business banker and an advisor to my clients, helping them through the commercial lending process.

Options Financial exemplifies a lot of the core values that I believe in. Not only does Options Financial put a focus on client relationships, but they also put a huge emphasis on educating the client, while treating them with integrity and respect.

What would you say is the most fulfilling part of what you do?

They say that a home purchase is the single largest purchase anyone will make in their lifetime. Being able to advise and help others through that process, and being able to provide an asset that can lead to generational wealth is very fulfilling on a personal and professional level. Everyone has their own unique story and being able to listen and understand their WHY, while also building lasting relationships is the driving factor of why I do what I do. I believe this work is important and will make a difference in all communities.

How would you describe the role of education in the process?

I believe education is very important, but it is often the most overlooked part in the process. Being Korean, I know the difficulties of language barriers and how daunting processes can become for some, especially when dealing with something as big as a home purchase. Far too many times, people are taken advantage of because they did not receive all the information needed to make a smart decision. I look to not only educate, but advise my clients, while at the same time, making sure they have a good understanding of the entire process.

Is there a particular story or example that captures the Options Financial “promise” or “benefit” in a nutshell?

I was first introduced to Options Financial, not as an employee, but as a clientele. During the pandemic, I was fortunate to be able to help my parents get out of a high interest loan by purchasing their home. However, speaking with many lenders, they all shared their concerns– that I was not qualified and that was the end of the story. No one ever took the time to look at other options and educate me on the steps to take to be able to obtain a loan. That’s when I met Options Financial, where they looked at me as a human being and not another loan to book. They took the time and found a way to help me obtain a loan and to help better my family. Finally, they left a lasting impression, which led me on a path to want to become a home loan advisor as well. Furthermore, I am hoping to provide the same help and leave a lasting impression in the communities; help them grow and take actions to move forward in their lives.

When you’re NOT working, what are some of your favorite pastimes?

I love sports, especially golf, soccer, and basketball. When I am not outside playing sports, I am in the kitchen because I love to cook.
