Motto: “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”
My background is in entrepreneurship, leadership, and communication. I have served on staff at churches in multiple capacities over the last 5 years. I started in the mortgage industry in 2010 working as a mapping technician for a flood insurance company. We worked with credit unions and banks determining flood zones for their clients. In 2012 I went into banking and slowly moved from teller to banker getting exposure to home equity loans, purchases, as well as refinancing.
Why Options Financial Residential Mortgage?
Options is a culture of empowerment. They put both the client and the Lending Solutions Officer in a position to make great decisions based on their goals and aspirations. While other lenders may be more transactional, Options is there for the long-term or whatever direction the client may need. That kind of service to their clients helps the team always be on the fringes of where the next need or want may come up.
What would you say is the most fulfilling part of what you do?
Seeing people get their home, especially first-time homebuyers. Clients usually have lots of questions and really want someone to help educate and empower them to know they are making the best decisions to reach their goals.
I also appreciate being part of a team that strives towards personal growth, whether through continued education within our field, reading a new book on personal development or working on leadership skills.
How would you describe the role of education in the process?
Education is the tool that empowers a client not only to make a great decision but to be able to do it again and again. ‘If you give someone a fish they’ll be full today but if you teach them how to fish they’ll be full for the rest of their life.’
That said, some clients don’t always want or have the capacity to be so informed about the loan process so it’s important that I’m always on top of my game to present the best options to my clients.
When you’re not working, what are some of your favorite pastimes?
Food! haha. I like to be with people. I’m also an entrepreneur that enjoys working on projects, playing music, reading, spending time with my family, and laughing.
Organizations I’m involved with:
I am a staff member of the church New Vision in Hillsboro and I also volunteer with a youth organization called Theophilus.
